Why We Love Working with the Government (And No, It’s Not Boring)

shares

In the modern world, the most important thing is communication. This is especially true for government, which must reach every citizen.

Narendra Modi

There’s this stereotype in the creative world that working with government clients is… well, boring. People think it’s all red tape, stiff meetings, and designs that look like they were made in Microsoft Paint.

But at Swyft Media, we’ve actually found the exact opposite.

Over the last year or so, we’ve shifted a big chunk of our focus toward PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings) and government bodies. I’m talking about massive organizations like the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC). And let me tell you, it has been one of the most rewarding pivots we’ve made

The Scale of Impact

When you sell a pair of sneakers for a private brand, you make one customer happy. That’s cool. We love that too. But when you work on a digital transformation campaign for something like UPECL, you are talking to millions of citizens. The scale is just different.

We recently handled the branding and communication for Prasthanam 2025. The pressure was immense. You aren’t just answering to a CEO; you’re answering to public sentiment. Every word in a press release, every color in a graphic, it all has to be vetted and perfect. It forces us to be sharper. You can’t just wing it with a “trendy” caption. You have to be strategic.

Bridging the Gap

One thing we realized is that the government wants to be modern. They know the audience is young. They know people are on Instagram and Twitter. The problem is they often don’t know how to bridge that gap between “Official Protocol” and “Digital Cool.”

That’s where we come in.

Our job isn’t to change who they are. It’s to translate their message. When we onboarded CWC as a client partner in 2025, the goal wasn’t to make them look like a tech startup. That would be fake. The goal was to show their strength, their legacy, and their reliability in a way that looks clean and professional on a smartphone screen.

The "Ahmedabad to UP" Connection

It’s also been a crazy journey geographically. We’re based in Ahmedabad—and we love Gujarat—but doing so much work in Uttar Pradesh has been an eye-opener. The energy in places like Prayagraj during the Startup Summit was infectious.

It’s funny, sometimes we’ll be in a meeting discussing a massive government MoU, and everyone is in suits, and then we go back to our office in Iscon Elegance and we’re brainstorming in t-shirts. It’s a weird duality, but it works.

Why it matters

I think a lot of creative agencies shy away from this work because it’s “hard.” The compliance paperwork alone is enough to make a designer cry. But the stability and the seriousness of the work make it worth it.

We are helping these massive ships turn a corner into the digital age. It’s slow sometimes, sure. But when you see a state tourism board get engagement from young travelers because of a campaign you helped design? That’s a win.

So, if you think government work is just filing cabinets and dusty offices, think again. In 2025, it’s digital, it’s fast, and honestly, it’s pretty exciting.
